They have eight points after 12 matches and the maximum the team can reach is 12 points, which will not be enough to reach the playoffs. Punjab is the second team after Mumbai to be out of the playoff race. At the same time, RCB kept the playoff hopes alive with the win.

After losing the toss and batting first, the Bengaluru team scored 241 runs after losing seven wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli had played an inning of 92 runs in 47 balls with the help of seven fours and six sixes. Whereas, Rajat Patidar scored 55 runs in 23 balls and Cameron Green scored 46 runs in 27 balls. In reply, the Punjab team was reduced to 181 runs in 17 overs. Riley Rousseau scored the highest score of 61 runs. Apart from this, Shashank Singh could score 37 runs and Sam Curran could score 22 runs. Siraj took three wickets. Whereas, Swapnil Singh, Loki Ferguson, and Karn Sharma got two wickets each.
The Punjab team, which came to chase the huge target of 242 runs, had a bad start. Prabhsimran Singh was out after scoring six runs. After this, Riley Rousseau made a partnership of 65 runs with Jonny Bairstow. Bairstow was out after scoring 27 runs in 16 balls. Rousseau scored the second half-century of his IPL career in 21 balls. However, after scoring his half-century, he immediately lost his wicket. Rousseau played an inning of 61 runs in 27 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes. Fans had high expectations from Shashank Singh, but he failed to score 37 runs in 19 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.
