The troubles are not showing any signs of slowing down for Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. The journey of Mumbai team this season was very disappointing and the team could win only four out of 14 matches. Mumbai also faced defeat by 18 runs against Lucknow Supergiants on Friday. Now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Hardik for slow over rate. This is the team’s third offense this season, hence Pandya has also been suspended for one match.
Hardik will not be able to play the first match of IPL 2025 season
IPL said in a statement that apart from a fine of Rs 30 lakh, Hardik has also been banned for one match for violating the IPL code of conduct. There are no matches left for Mumbai this season and the team has played all its 14 matches in the group stage, so this suspension on Hardik will be applicable for the next season and he will not be able to play the first match of the 2025 season.IPL said in the statement that apart from Hardik, other players of the team included in the playing-11 have been fined Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee. This penalty will also apply to impact players.
Mumbai is at the bottom position in the table
Before the IPL 2024 season, Mumbai made a big change in the team by trading Hardik Pandya to Gujarat Titans. Hardik was a part of Mumbai for a long time, but before the big auction for the 2022 season, Mumbai released him and Gujarat made Hardik its captain. Hardik had a great journey with Gujarat and he made the team the winner in the very first season, while Gujarat was the runner-up last season. This season after coming back to his home clan and taking after the biggest responsibility of leading the team had been a walk through hell for Hardik. Troubles seem to keep rushing towards him as well as the team. They are the first team to to eliminated from the play offs and then the last stroke was this penalty.
