The condition of Ratan Tata, honorary chairman of Tata Sons, is said to be critical. According to media reports, he has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Mumbai. News agency Reuters gave this information on Wednesday quoting two sources.
86-year-old industrialist Ratan Tata had assured people earlier this week that he was admitted to the hospital for regular medical checkups related to age-related health conditions. Now sources are being told that his condition has worsened and he has been admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Tata posted a statement on his social media account on Monday, in which he dismissed rumors about his health. He dismissed media reports that he was seriously ill. He said, “There is no reason to worry. I am in a good mood.” He said that his regular medical checkup is going on. He appealed to people and the media to avoid spreading misinformation.

Under Ratan Tata’s leadership, the group launched the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano. He expanded the group’s IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to make it a global IT leader.
Ratan Tata resigned as chairman of Tata Sons in 2012 but was later named honorary chairman of Tata Sons and other group companies including Tata Motors and Tata Steel.
