FIR Filed Against Ram Gopal Varma: Director Faces Trouble Over Post Against CM

A case has been registered against filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for allegedly posting morphed photographs of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh and Jana Sena Party chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, on social media.

Son and daughter-in-law also involved

The case was registered following a complaint lodged by TDP leader Ramalingam at the Maddipadu police station in Prakasam district, accusing Ram Gopal Varma of using social media to defame Naidu and his family, including his son Lokesh and daughter-in-law Brahmani.

It happened during the film ‘Vyuham’

This was allegedly done during the promotion of his thriller film ‘Vyuham’. According to Maddipadu Sub Inspector Shiva Ramaiah, a case has been registered against him under the IT Act based on Ramalingam’s allegations. He is accused of misusing digital platforms to spread false information.

Released in the week of the elections

The film ‘Vyuham’ was earlier scheduled to be released in February, but the film faced many controversies. After which it was released in March, just a few weeks before the elections. His social media post was a part of the promotion of the film. During its release, TDP had warned Varma to avoid targeting Naidu’s family in his films.

Close to YSR

Ram Gopal Varma is considered close to YSR. He has been openly criticizing Chandrababu Naidu for a long time. His film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ was based on the life of TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao.
