Popular Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested by Hyderabad Police on Friday in connection with the death of a woman during the premiere of his recently released film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. After this, Allu Arjun was sent to 14 days judicial custody by the court. Now Allu Arjun has got a big relief from the High Court.
Actor Allu Arjun had challenged the lower court’s 14-day judicial custody decision in the High Court. Allu Arjun has been given a big relief by the Telangana High Court by granting interim bail. Allu Arjun will have to fill a bail bond in front of the jail superintendent.
‘Personal freedom cannot be taken away’
Hearing the bail petition, the High Court said that Allu’s freedom cannot be taken away just because he is an actor. The court said that the Telangana Police could not provide prima facie evidence of unintentional murder. The court found that Sandhya Theater had informed the police about the crowd. The Supreme Court’s decision regarding personal freedom became the basis for Allu Arjun’s bail.
Revathi died in a stampede
Allu Arjun was arrested by the police from his house on Friday amid tight security and taken to Chikkadpally police station. In fact, on the night of December 4, a large number of fans thronged the Sandhya Theater to get a glimpse of the actor. During the stampede, 35-year-old woman Revathi died and her 8-year-old son was injured.
The Hyderabad Police has registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management under sections 105 and 118 (1) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the woman’s family. Allu Arjun had approached the Telangana High Court on December 11 and requested to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the woman’s death. Allu Arjun announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased Revathi last week and also assured the bereaved family that they are not alone in this hour of grief and he will personally meet the family.
