IND vs WI: The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian Women’s Cricket Team has made a great start to the 3-match ODI series against the West Indies. Team India badly crushed the West Indies in the first ODI match.
India defeated the West Indies by 211 runs in the first ODI match played in Vadodara on Sunday. Batting first, India scored a strong score of 314 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, but the West Indies team collapsed for just 103 runs in 26.2 overs.
Vice-captain and opener Smriti Mandhana played a great innings with the bat for India. Renuka Singh bowled lethally and took 5 wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs. Mandhana scored 91 runs in 102 balls with the help of 13 fours. Apart from Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, and Jemima Rodrigues also batted well, due to which the Indian team managed to score a brilliant score of 314 runs.
West Indies trapped in Renuka’s claw
The visiting team West Indies won the toss and invited India to bat first and India took full advantage of it. From top order to middle order, every batsman scored runs. After this, India defeated West Indies in bowling as well. Renuka Singh alone overpowered the Caribbean team. Right-arm fast bowler Renuka opened her claws and defeated West Indies. Apart from Renuka, Priya Mishra took 2 wickets and Titus Sadhu and Deepti Sharma took 1-1 wickets each.
With this brilliant victory, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. The second match of the series will be played on the same ground on December 24. The third and last match is also to be held here on 27th December.
