In 1995 when Raveena was just 21 and unmarried too, she decided to adopt her cousin’s daughters, Pooja and Chaya who were 11 and 8 years old. Although she was confident about her decision, she kept it a secret because “Initially, it was that era of tabloidism and yellow dirty journalism. There were these hardcore writers who were just writing nasty stuff and the headlines were nasty.”

Tandan Opened up about Daughter’s interfaith wedding

Recently in an interview, that empowered woman opened her mouth about her adopted daughter Chaya’s interfaith wedding. Chaya, the elder sister got married to the love of her life, in a Hindu-Catholic ceremony in Goa on January 25, 2016, at the age of 21. When Ravina was asked she was is she was okay with interfaith marriages, she told Lehren Retro, “Of course, why not? We are all human beings at the end.” She also shared more details about the wedding “It was such a beautiful interfaith wedding. We did her chooda ceremony. She wore her chooda on her gown. I gave her away, I walked her down the aisle, that was another breaking of taboo. The mangalsutra was tied after the vows were taken. And sindoor was put in the church so it was a correct mix of how it should be,” she shared.

She shared about the bonding with her daughters, “It’s a lifetime commitment and there are relationships, there are bonds and there’s love and there’s emotion and there’s everything that’s involved so yes there is a bond that we all share. They are the older siblings to my younger ones.”
