England Won the Toss and Chose to Bowl First Against India in World Cup 2023

Today India and England teams face each other at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The journey of the two teams in the World Cup is opposite this time. Team India has played five matches so far, winning five of them. They are second in the league table with ten points. Rohit Sharma’s team wants to oust South Africa and move to the top of the league table by snatching their sixth win of the tournament against England today. On the other hand, the condition of England, the champion of the last World Cup, is quite deplorable. They have also played five matches in the current tournament. Among them, the win is only against Bangladesh. Jos Buttler had to lose in the remaining four matches. The hopes of the semi-finals are already over. England won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The duo of Rohit and Shubman will be seen once again today in opening for India. Coach Rahul Dravid did not bring much change in the batting attack. He has arranged the team keeping Virat Kohli at three, Shreyas Iyer at four, and KL Rahul at five. Suryakumar Yadav, who failed against New Zealand, has been given a second chance. Hardik Pandya is still not in Team India’s eleven. Two spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav can play a big role in Lucknow’s spin support of 22 yards. With two spinners, the ‘Men in Blue’ fielded on a three-pacer policy today. Mohammed Shami took five wickets in his comeback match in the World Cup. He kept his place. Jasprit Bumrah is also there. Mohammed Siraj will be seen as the third pacer.

After winning the toss, the captains of the two teams spoke

Rohit Sharma: We wanted to bat first, but we had a good time batting second. Looks like a good pitch, it’s a new surface that has been relayed here. It has played well for the 100 overs. I mean it’s quite important to think like that but it’s important to get the two points. We have played some good cricket. It’s always good to have a break. It’s nice to come back here and get back into business. We are playing the same team we played in the last game.

Jos Buttler: We are going to bowl first today. Not anything in particular, it’s a gut decision. It’s a great occasion and hopefully, today we bring our best. Today, we want to put up a good show. We haven’t done ourselves justice, today we want to put up a show and play for pride. Playing in front of a full crowd and against India, it’s a great occasion. We are going with the same team.
