During the match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder in Australia’s T20 league Big Bash League 2023-24, something like this was seen which you might have never seen before. Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf, who plays for Melbourne Stars, was preparing himself for bowling and suddenly his turn to bat came. Melbourne Stars lost four wickets in four consecutive balls in the last over against Sydney Thunder, due to which Haris Rauf had to come out to bat. Rauf had to come on the field on the last ball of Melbourne Stars’ innings, Rauf was not at all prepared in such a situation and reached the field running with bat, gloves, and helmet in his hand. During this time Rauf was not wearing a pad. Daniel Sams of Sydney Thunder, who was bowling, was also surprised to see Rauf. Commentators also made fun of it.
Rauf had to stand at the non-strike end only, but the kind of risk he took could prove to be quite dangerous. If Liam Dawson had to take a no-ball or wide single on the last ball, then Rauf would have had to face fast bowler Daniel Sams without a pad. See here how Haris Rauf came to bat without pads-

Melbourne Stars’ score in 19 overs was 170 runs for six wickets. Daniel Sams came to bowl the last over, two single runs came on the first two balls. Sams then showed Beau Webster the way to the pavilion by taking a catch on his ball. Then Usama Mir was caught by Chris Green on the ball of Sams and was out. There were two balls left in the match and Melbourne Stars had two wickets left. Mark Steketee was then run out and Rauf had to come on the field unprepared. Sams ended the Melbourne Stars innings by bowling Dawson on the last ball.
