BCCI could not reveal the complete schedule of IPL in the atmosphere of Lok Sabha polls. Initially, 15 days schedule has been announced. According to board sources, the rest of the schedule has already been prepared after seeing the schedule of the Lok Sabha polls. It will be released in the next few days. In the meantime, the IPL playoff venue and final date have been announced.
This year’s IPL final match will happen at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai
According to a report by news agency PTI, this year’s IPL final may be held on May 26. The final match is going to be held at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. A qualifier match of the tournament will also be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. An IPL qualifier will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Also, another eliminator match will be held here.
It is heard that the entire IPL schedule may be announced in a day or two. But there is no doubt that the final match will be in Chennai. Because the last champion team is Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. And the champion franchise usually gets the opening and final matches at their home ground.
A senior BCCI official told PTI that the IPL Governing Council has followed last year’s tradition of holding the opening game and the final at the home venue of the defending champions -In this case, the opening ceremony will be held at the Chennai Super Kings ground as well as the final match. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is probably playing his last IPL, a knockout match and final in Chennai is great news for all ‘Thala’ fans.
BCCI has finalized the rest of the IPL schedule keeping in mind the General Election date and will be released soon. The IPL organizers have released the first 21 matches and 15-day schedule of the month.
