The Mumbai team needed 42 runs in the last overs, but the Mumbai batsmen could not perform well in the last overs. In this match, captain Hardik Pandya made the debut of young batsman Naman Dhir in IPL and he came to bat at number three for the team. He played some good strokes, but could not play big innings.
Naman Dhir was successful in impressing with batting
Naman Dhir is only 24 years old and plays for Punjab in domestic cricket. The way he batted against Gujarat Titans. He has shown in his very first match that he is a long-haul player. Naman batted stormily in the over of Gujarat bowler Azmatullah Umarzai. He hit three fours in this over and then hit a six of 86 meters. But he was out on the last ball of this over. He scored 20 runs in 10 balls.
Naman Dhir has played only 6 T20 matches so far
Mumbai Indians team has bought Naman Dhir for Rs 20 lakh. He is known for hitting big sixes on the field. This was the sixth T20 match of Naman Dhir’s career. He has not played a 50-over match in domestic cricket yet. But he has two centuries in his name in first-class matches. He has scored 574 runs in 14 first-class matches, which includes two centuries and two half-centuries.
Scored two centuries in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup
In the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup in August last year, he got everyone’s attention due to his hitting ability. In that tournament, he scored 466 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 192.56 and an average of 42.36. During this period, he scored two centuries and also hit a total of 30 sixes. He has batted mostly at number three.
