The plane crash took place 56 years ago in Rohtang Pass of Himachal Pradesh. An-12 aircraft of the Indian Air Force was the victim of an accident. Four soldiers were killed in this accident. The bodies of all these four soldiers have been recovered after 56 years.
Joint team of Indian Army recovered dead bodies
One of India’s longest running search operations has been successfully completed. Army officials informed that the bodies were recovered by a joint team of Dogra Scouts of the Indian Army and personnel of Tricolor Mountain Rescue.
Three dead bodies identified
On February 7, 1968, a turboprop transport aircraft went missing while on its way from Chandigarh to Leh. There were 102 army personnel in it. Officials said that three of the recovered bodies have been identified as Malkhan Singh, constable Narayan Singh and craftsman Thomas Charan.Wreckage and remains were identified over the course of several days in mid-July that year. SP Choudhary said the Army expedition team is now in the process of bringing the remains back to Losar base.
