Tragic Fire at Mahakal Temple: 14 Lives Lost During Holi Celebrations in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh!

On the auspicious Holi celebration, a fatal incident took place in Madhya Pradesh. 14 priests got badly injured when a huge fire broke out at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. This incident happened in the early morning on Monday during ‘bhasma aarti’, according to the Madhya Pradesh official sources.

The fire broke out from ‘gulal’ ?

This fatal incident took place in the ‘garba griha’ which is the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. According to the eyewitnesses,  the fire broke out while ‘gulal’ was being thrown. This is a part of the religious ceremony. Gulal is coloured powder that is used during rituals ands Holi. Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh said, “The incident happened at 5.50 am, while the ‘bhasma aarti’ was about to end and the ‘kapur aarti’ was about to begin. 14 priests suffered minor burn injuries. They were taken to the district hospital for treatment. Eight of them have been shifted to Indore. A magisterial probe has been ordered.”

“Fourteen priests suffered burn injuries. Some are being treated in the district hospital here, while eight have sought treatment in Indore. A magisterial probe has been ordered. It will be conducted by Zila Panchayat CEO Mrinal Meena and Additional Collector Anukool Jain and a report will be submitted in three days,” said Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh.The injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital as soon as possible. Although according to the latest reports, no casualties have happened till now.

A magisterial probe has been ordered because of the incident . The injured people are undergoing treatment, claimed by the the district collector, Neeraj Singh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also said that he was briefed about the situation by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The local administration would provide all assistance and help that is needed to the injured, he added. Chief Minister Yadav expressed grief about this unfortunate and unwanted incident. He posted on X, “I have been in touch with the administration since morning. Everything is under control. It is a prayer to Baba Mahakal that all the injured get complete recovery soon.”
