A plane of a private airline company crashed while taking off at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Wednesday morning, carrying 19 people. According to media reports, the plane was going to Pokhara and crashed around 11 am. A security officer posted at the airport said that the pilot of the plane had been taken to the hospital. He said that the fire in the plane had been extinguished. Police and firefighters are carrying out rescue operations at the accident site.
According to media reports, the accident occurred when the Pokhara-bound plane went off the runway during take-off. There were 19 people on board the plane, including crew members. According to preliminary information, five bodies have been recovered from the accident site. The ship’s captain MR Shakya has been taken to the hospital. A thick cloud of smoke was seen at the airport. Police and firefighters are carrying out rescue operations at the accident site. After the accident, Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu has been closed as a precautionary measure.
