On Thursday, security forces in Kashmir seized a range of weapons and ammunition after apprehending two individuals in Bandipora, located in the north of the region. The operation, which involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, was based on specific intelligence.
The joint search operation took place on March 12 along the Gandbal-Hajin Road area in Bandipora. During the operation, the forces caught two suspects and discovered several items, including:
1 Pistol
1 Pistol Magazine
2 Hand Grenades
1 AK Magazine
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the recovery in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation was carried out in Bandipora. Two suspects were detained, and weapons, along with ammunition, were recovered. Investigations are ongoing,” the post stated.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, an army soldier was injured in cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The soldier was stationed at a forward post in the Kalsiyan area, part of the Nowshera sector.
Reports suggest that the soldier was hit by a suspected sniper attack from across the border. Following the attack, the injured soldier received first aid at the scene before being evacuated to a military hospital in Udhampur for further treatment.
Officials also reported an explosion along the zero line in the area around 6 a.m., followed by several rounds of gunfire. Fortunately, no immediate casualties were reported from the blast, and the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
The situation is being closely monitored as further details are awaited.
