Another deepfake video of actress Alia Bhatt has created quite a stir on social media, with some people surprised by the technology and some criticizing it. The recent deepfake features the Bollywood celebrity in the GRWM trend, where she is seen wearing a black kurta and makeup. “AI is getting dangerous day by day,” commented a user on the Instagram post that has now been deleted, while another wrote: “I hope you have consent to use AI that uses real human faces.”
The Instagram account on which this video was initially posted and later taken down is run by a person named Sameeksha Avtar under the name of Unfixedface. Even though the profile’s bio has a disclaimer that clarifies that all videos on the page are created using AI “for entertainment purposes only”, many Instagram users thought that the account admin resembles Alia Bhatt in real life. One user commented: “You look like Alia Bhatt.”
AI is Now Dangerous for us
In another video, the admin used a clip from the actor’s film Gully Boy in an attempt to show what Alia Bhatt’s reaction was after watching these videos, stating that her career would be over after watching these reels. “Don’t worry, it’s AI chill.”
Turns out, this entire Instagram page is filled with deepfakes of Alia Bhatt, which are being used for promotion. Apart from Alia, the faces of Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor have also been used on this page. With over 50K followers on Instagram, the admin also has a YouTube channel with similar content.
This is not the first time Alia Bhatt has fallen prey to deepfakes.
On May 7, when the actress set the floor of the Met Gala on fire wearing a sari designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a deepfake of the actress in a red sari went viral at the same time. The video was posted on the same account – Unfixedface.
