Veteran actress Jaya Prada has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by a Chennai court. Along with this, a fine of Rs 5 thousand has also been imposed on him. A petition was filed by the employees of a cinema hall against Jaya Prada and her business partner. Ram Kumar and Raja Babu were found guilty along with the actress in this case. Both are his business partners. Ram Kumar and Raja Babu used to run the cinema hall. The dispute arose when the ESI of the cinema hall employees was not paid and after that, they took the legal route.
According to the report, Jaya Prada and her business partner used to run a cinema hall in Chennai but it was closed after incurring losses. The staff members working there filed a case against Jaya Prada for not paying the ESI amount deducted from their salary. Thereafter, the Labor Government Insurance Corporation filed a case against Jaya Prada, Ram Kumar, and Raja Babu in the Egmore Magistrate Court in Chennai. Now the court has sentenced in this case.
Jaya Prada reportedly promised to pay the dues to the employees. He also requested the court to dismiss the case but the court rejected his appeal.
Jaya Prada has been a popular actress in the 70’s and 80’s. He did many films in Telugu before entering the Hindi cinema world. In her time, she was counted among the most beautiful actresses. Her pairing with Jeetendra was well received. Jaya Prada’s major films include ‘Tohfa’, ‘Sanjog’, ‘Kaamchor’, ‘Sharabi’, ‘Aakhri Raasta’, ‘Thanedar’, ‘Aaj Ka Arjun’ and ‘Maa’ among others.
