The controversy regarding Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency is not stopping. Ever since the trailer of Emergency was released, there have been protests against this film and demands for banning it are being raised. Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency is being accused of allegedly showing the Sikh community in a bad light, which is derogatory to their image. In view of the increasing controversy regarding Emergency, the makers have decided to postpone the film. This means that now this film will not be released in theaters on 6th September.
Perhaps the film has been postponed due to the ongoing issues regarding the film. Yesterday, on August 31, Bollywood Hungama reported that the Punjab and Haryana High Court heard the case filed by Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh. These residents of Mohali demanded that the censor certificate given to Emergency by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) should be cancelled. They further said that the film should be allowed to be reviewed by eminent Sikh personalities before being released in theatres
According to Hindustan Times, Additional Solicitor General of India Satya Pal Jain, appearing for the CBFC, told the court, “It (certification) has not been given yet. It will be given as per the rules and regulations applicable to the case. If anyone has any complaint, it can be sent to the board.”
Now it remains uncertain when Emergency will be released and whether its release will be extended by a week.
