Kiran Rao’s ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is out of Oscars race!

The whole India was hoping that Kiran Rao’s film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ would brighten the face of the country at the Oscars. But the dream has been shattered. Last September, a statement was published by the ‘Film Federation of India’ that Aamir Khan produced film will represent India in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards next year. Since then I have started taking this picture to OTT. But this film is officially out from the Oscar race.

What did Kiran Rao and Amir Khan say

Last October, Aamir and Kiran started promoting ‘Laapataa Ladies’ in the US for the Oscars. Similarly, keeping in mind the foreign audience, the name of the film was changed to ‘Lost Ladies’. Kiran also told that she is proud, saying that her directorial venture is representing the country in the Oscar. But her dream was not fulfilled. Slightly disappointed in that. Aamir Khan’s production company said that they were disappointed that ‘Laapataa Ladies’ did not get success in the Oscars. They are grateful for the support and love he has received from everyone on this journey. He also said, “On behalf of Aamir Khan Productions, we would like to express our gratitude to the Academy Awards judges for selecting this film among the best films in the world. Gratitude to the audience, who have given so much love to this film.”
