A Kolkata court on Sunday issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actress Zareen Khan in an alleged fraud case. A case was registered against him in 2016. The investigating officer in the case had filed a charge sheet against the actress before the Sealdah court of Kolkata. However, Zareen Khan neither appealed for bail nor appeared before the court. Following his repeated absence, the court has issued an arrest warrant.
When asked about the arrest warrant, Zareen Khan replied that she had no clarity on the matter. She said, ‘I am sure there is no truth in this. I am also surprised and am getting it checked with my lawyer. Only then will I be able to clear you something. In the meantime, you can talk to my PR. Let us tell you, that Zareen Khan was to perform during a Durga Puja ceremony in Kolkata in 2016. However, even when the organizers were waiting for her, she did not arrive.
According to the police, one of the organizers had filed a written complaint of fraud against Bollywood actress Zareen Khan and her manager. An FIR was registered against both of them and they were asked to appear for questioning. Zareen Khan came for questioning at that time and claimed to have been misled by the organizers. She had also alleged that the organizers had told him that many senior ministers including the Chief Minister of Bengal would attend the event. However, her team later learned that it was a small-scale event in Kolkata. Apart from this, there was a problem with her travel and stay arrangements, hence she did not get there.
Police sources said that Zareen Khan had also filed a case against the organizers of the show in a local court. After an investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the actress and her manager. Her manager appeared in the court and sought bail, the actress neither sought bail nor appeared before the court. In such a situation, an arrest warrant has been issued against her.
