Actor Nana Patekar has issued a clarification on the viral video of him smacking a selfie-seeking fan during the shooting of a film. Nana Patekar shared a video on Instagram and narrated the entire incident in minute detail. Nana Patekar also apologised. He said was a “misunderstanding”. He asserted that he has never denied selfies to his fans and “will never do anything like this”.

Nana Patekar can be heard saying in the video, “Dekhiye, ek video viral ho raha hai jaha maine ek bacche ko mara hai. Hala ke ye sequence hamare ek film ka hissa hai. Humne ek rehearsal kar di thi. Ek piche se banda aake bolta hai, ‘Ye bura topi bechni ha?’ Maine hat pehna hua hai. Mein use marta hu. Mein kehta hu, ‘Badtameezi bandh karo, tameez se pesh aao. Ye tarika nehi hai.’ Aur woh bhag jata hai. Ek rehearsal kar chuke the. Director ne kaha aur ek bar karni hai. Hum suru hi kar ne wale the ke itne me ye baccha jo video me hai andar aa gaya.”

The video circulating on the internet is from Varanasi where the 72-year-old actor is shooting for his next feature film “Journey” with filmmaker Anil Sharma. In the 10-second clip, Nana Patekar is seen getting ready to shoot a scene when a fan comes close to him and tries to click a selfie. But visibly upset Nana Patekar smacked the boy on the back of his head and a guard, who was standing close to the actor, grabbed the young fan by his neck and escorts him away.
