The video in circulation shows a woman wearing a racy outfit and entering an elevator. The morphed video shows a woman with Rashmika’s face entering a lift wearing a fitted outfit. Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and many more have reacted to this. Now Rashmika’s reaction has come out on this matter!
Rashmika Mandanna stated on a viral deepfake video that her face had been superimposed onto another woman’s body. She also demanded action against the makers of the video. The video had gone viral in a minute and a few social media users also came forward to clarify that the video was AI-generated and modified. However, her face has been morphed with that of Rashmika’s. Many of her fans pointed out it was fake and revealed that the original woman in it was Zara Patel, a British Indian.
The original video featured British-Indian social media star Zara Patel dressed in a black workout onesie inside an elevator. In the viral video, Zara’s face has been edited using artificial intelligence into Rashmika’s face. Many people, including Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, have called for legal action against those who create and circulate such misleading content.
A journalist shared the real video on his account on X and said “There is an urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to deal with deepfake in India. You might have seen this viral video of actress Rashmika Mandanna on Instagram. But wait, this is a deepfake video of Zara Patel.”. Amitabh Bachchan quoted his post and demanded legal action against the ones who created the fake video of Rashmika. “Yes, this is a strong case for legal,” he said. Amitabh Bachchan demanded legal action for misuse of Rashmika’s face.
Rashmika Mandanna took to her Instagram story and wrote, “I feel hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.”
