A group of people claiming to be members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee vandalized Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s residence on Sunday, December 22. The miscreants broke flower pots and other items.
The protesters raised slogans against the actor and demanded justice for the woman who died in a stampede at a movie theatre here earlier this month during the screening of the actor’s latest film ‘Pushpa-2’. The protesters were taken into custody by the police.
Demand for justice for the woman
The protesters raised slogans against the actor and demanded justice for the woman who died during a stampede at the Sandhya Cinema theatre earlier this month. A placard carried by the protesters read, “Crores of rupees are being earned by making films, while moviegoers are dying.” The action committee, which was at the forefront of the movement for statehood for Telangana, said.
“Allu Arjun said on the accident – now ‘Pushpa 2’ will be a hit”
AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi raised the Sandhya Theater stampede case in the assembly and criticized the Telugu superstar, after which Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also expressed displeasure over the matter. Speaking about the stampede incident, Akbaruddin Owaisi said, “I do not want to take the name of that famous film star, but according to my information, when that film star was told that there was a stampede outside, two children fell in the theater and a woman died, then that star smiled and said that ‘the film is now going to be a hit.”
He further said- “Despite the incident, Allu Arjun kept watching the film and came out of the theater waving his hand towards the crowd. Now he is giving the message that the government is committing atrocities, doing injustice. He did not even bother to go and know their (injured) condition.”
