Asia Cup 2023 will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 August to 17 September. This will be the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. When there are less than two months before the World Cup 2023, this tournament will be like a preparation for the top cricket-playing countries of Asia. In the Asia Cup, India will play all its matches in Sri Lanka and hence the Indo-Pak clash on September 2 will be held in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
The Asia Cup was started in 1984 and is one of the oldest tournaments in international cricket. The first Asia Cup title was won by India under the leadership of Sunil Gavaskar. Since then, 15 editions of the Asia Cup have been organized.
The last tournament of the Asia Cup was played in 2022, which was organized in T20 format. However, Asia Cup 2023 will be held in ODI format. Sri Lanka won the 2022 Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan in the final. By the way, India is the most successful team in the history of the Asia Cup, which has won this title seven times so far.
