Indian women’s cricket team has entered the final of the Asian Games. The team defeated Bangladesh in the semi-finals and with this also confirmed its medal in the Asian Games.
The first semi-final of the Asian Games was played between India and Bangladesh women’s team. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first but the Indian bowlers proved this decision wrong. Bangladesh seemed to be struggling to score runs, the entire team was all out for just 51 runs. Pooja Vastrakar took a maximum of 4 wickets.
Pooja gave a great start by dismissing both the openers Shathi Rani and Shamima Sultana for zero, after this Pooja also made Sobhana, who came at number three, her victim. Pooja took 4 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Rajeshwari Gaikwad gave only 8 runs in 3.5 overs and took 1 wicket.
Team India did not face any problems while chasing the target of 52 runs, the team achieved the target in the 9th over and won by 8 wickets. Smriti Mandhana was out after scoring 7 runs and Shefali Verma was out after scoring 17 runs. The final match of the Asian Games will start on September 25 at 11:30 a.m. Before this, there will be a competition for the bronze medal.
The Indian women’s cricket team was making its debut in the Asian Games with a straight quarter-final appearance. The match in the quarter-final was with Malaysia but due to rain, that match was inconclusive. With the cancellation, the Indian team reached the semi-finals. After an excellent performance in the semi-finals, the team made it to the finals. The second semi-final will be held today between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The winning team will play India in the final and the losing team will play Bangladesh for the bronze medal.
