The search for a new coach for the Indian cricket team has started. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) can soon begin the necessary process for this. It is not that the Indian board is angry with the current coach of the team, Rahul Dravid, or wants to remove him. That is why Rahul Dravid will also have the option to apply for the next term. The tenure of the current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul, is ending in June.
India has had Duncan Fletcher, Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, and Dravid as the coaches by far. Of them, Kumble played in a couple of early IPL seasons, and Dravid played in the IPL till 2013. BCCI has hinted that they need a coach who is calm but can become aggressive in terms of mindset. Gautam Gambhir is an ideal choice for the position. Gambhir can make bold decisions, speak out loud when needed, and most importantly, focus only on the team’s good performance. Other than him Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra are also potential options for the position.

Jai Shah said, ‘We will invite applications in the next few days. We want to choose a coach for the long term. Therefore, the appointment of the new coach will be for three years. There is no tradition in Indian cricket of having separate coaches for different formats. Anyway, many of our players play in all formats. But ultimately this decision has to be taken by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). Whatever decision the committee takes, I will implement it.’ CAC consists of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape, and Sulakshana Naik.
