Big Change in India’s World Cup Squad as Ravichandran Ashwin Replaces Axar Patel

India has made changes in its World Cup squad at the last moment. Due to injured Akshar Patel not recovering on time, Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the squad as all-rounder. Akshar was injured in the match against Bangladesh in the Super-4 stage of the Asia Cup. After which Ashwin recently performed effectively in the ODI series against Australia.

Akshar Patel had performed brilliantly in the match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup. However, India lost this match. In this match, Akshar Patel was separated from Team India after he suffered a muscle strain in his left hand. Only after this, the name of Ravi Ashwin or Washington Sundar was in discussion in place of Akshar Patel in the World Cup. 28 September was the last date to revise the team for the World Cup.

In such a situation, due to Akshar Patel not being healthy for a long time, experienced Ravichandran Ashwin has been given a place in the Indian team. Ashwin has recently made his comeback in the ODI format. Ashwin was given a place in the first two matches of the ODI series against Australia. He took 4 wickets in these matches. At the same time, he proved to be an economical bowler for India by giving away fewer runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin has made a strong comeback in the Indian ODI team. He was included as a replacement for Akshar Patel in the series against Australia. With this series, he made a comeback in ODI after 18 months. At the same time, the experienced slow bowler has also been a part of the World Cup 2011 winning team and World Cup 2015 team.

India’s first practice match will be played with England on 30 September. Whereas, the second match will be with the Netherlands on 3 October.
