Mumbai: This is the first time in IPL history that, the final match was played 3 days continue. End of the final, CSK won his 5th IPL Trophy by Ravindra Jadeja’s Unbelievable shot in the last over of GT Bowler Mohit Sharma.
The final was scheduled to take place on the 28th, but due to rain, the first day’s match was completely washed away and BCCI decided to hold the final match on a reserve day. And like that, the match started yesterday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Chennai captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 214 runs. Gujarat’s young uncapped batsman Sai Sudarshan played a brilliant innings. He impressed everyone by playing a big innings of 96 runs off 47 balls. On the other hand, the team’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha also played a scintillating innings of 54 runs. Everyone expected great innings from Shubman Gill in yesterday’s match, but he managed to score only 39 runs in the match like the final and was stumped by MS Dhoni. If we talk about the bowlers in Chennai, CSK bowlers did nothing like that in the final match. First, Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion after being stumped by ms Dhoni, then Wriddhiman Saha was caught out by Dhoni again while hitting a big shot. On the other hand, Sai Sudarshan was bowled LBW by Mathisha Pakhirana.
In the second innings, when the Chennai team came to bat, it started raining again after one over. And at about 12.20 minutes the match started for the second time. But in the DL system, the over and target were reduced to 171 runs in 15 overs for Chennai. In the end, CSK was able to win the IPL trophy for the fifth time thanks to Jadeja’s great sixes and fours.
