Nepal’s Deependra Singh Airee broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of the fastest half-century in T20 by scoring a half-century in just nine balls against Mongolia on Wednesday, the fourth day of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in China. He played an explosive inning of 52 runs in 10 balls. Earlier, the India all-rounder had made the record for the fastest T20I half-century by scoring a half-century in 12 balls in 2007.
Deepender Singh’s feat came during Nepal’s group-stage match against Mongolia. His explosive batting performance took the audience by surprise as he brought up his half-century in just nine balls. This incredible feat overtook Yuvraj Singh’s record, which was set during the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. Yuvraj had scored 50 runs in 12 balls.
Deependra Airee hit the Mongolian bowlers with shots to all corners of the ground and hit 8 sixes to reach his half-century. The fans at the Pingfeng Campus cricket ground in Hangzhou clapped and encouraged the young Nepali batsman.
