England Beats Bangladesh Women’s Team by 21 Runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup

England defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in the Group B match of the Women’s T20 World Cup based on the excellent performance of the bowlers led by Linsey Smith. England, batting first, scored 118 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Bangladesh team could score only 97 runs in seven overs in the stipulated overs. Smith and Charlotte Dean took two wickets each for England.

Bangladesh bowlers performed much better than expected in this match, but the batsmen did not prove to be effective while chasing the low target and the team could not achieve a second consecutive success. For Bangladesh, Sobhana Mostari scored 44 runs with the help of one four and one six in 48 balls, but even this inning of hers could not bring victory to the team. Apart from Mostari, only captain Niga Sultana could reach double digits for Bangladesh, who scored 15 runs. Apart from these two batsmen, no other batsman could reach double digits.

England’s opening pair impressed.

Earlier, England, who won the toss and elected to bat first, got off to a good start from the opening pair. Openers Maia Busher (23) and Danielle Wyatt (41) shared an aggressive 48-run partnership in 40 balls for the first wicket. It seemed that England would score big, but Rabeya Khan broke this partnership by dismissing Busher, after which England’s innings faltered.

England, who scored 47 runs without loss in six overs in the powerplay, were moving towards a big score, but the team struggled to score runs in front of the tight bowling of Fahima Khatun and Rabeya. England completed a century of runs in the 19th over. Sophie Ecclestone (8 not out) took a six and two runs off the last two balls to take England’s score to 118 runs. Wicketkeeper Amy Jones remained unbeaten on 12 runs.
