The 18th season of the Indian Premier League is to be played in the year 2025. Still, before that, a mega player auction will be organized, for which the IPL Governing Council has announced the player retention policy. This time some new rules have also been implemented, including one regarding foreign players, which all the franchises have been demanding for a long time. In the IPL for the last few years, many foreign players were participating in the auction but just before the season started, they refused to play, in such a situation the franchises have to bear the loss and they also complained to the IPL Governing Council about this, on which now a new rule has been implemented.
If a foreign player does not participate in the mega auction, then he will not be able to play in the next season’s auction as well.
If a foreign player does not register for the mega player auction by the IPL Governing Council, then he will also be banned from the player auction to be held next year. It is clear from this that it will be necessary for any foreign player to participate in the mega auction of IPL.
All the franchises and fans will be very happy with this new rule. For the last few years, many players have refused to play just before the start of the season citing their workload as an excuse. Now according to the new rule, if a franchise selects a player for its team at the time of auction and later that player refuses to play before the start of the season, then in that case that player will be banned from playing in the IPL for 2 years. Along with this, that player will also be unable to give his name for the player auction.
