Gautam Gambhir joins KKR for IPL 2024

KKR released an official statement announcing the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as a “mentor” at KKR. Gambhir’s previous association with KKR from 2011-17 was nothing short of historic. During this period, the team won the title twice, qualified for the playoffs five times, and reached the final of the Champions League T20 in 2014.

After joining KKR, Gambhir said- “I am not an emotional person, and many things do not affect me. But this is different. It’s back to where it all started. Today, when I think of wearing that purple and gold jersey once again, there is a lump in my throat and a fire in my heart. I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the city of joy. I am back. I am hungry. I am at number 23. Ami KKR.”

Welcoming Gambhir to KKR, Shah Rukh Khan said – “Gautam has always been a part of the family and this is our captain coming back home in a different avatar as a “mentor”. They are sorely missed and now we all are looking forward. Thanks to Chandu sir and Gautam for instilling the never-say-die spirit and sportsmanship to create magic with Team KKR.”
