With the Indian team winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended. After that, the name of the new head coach has been announced. Gautam Gambhir has been given the responsibility of Team India coach. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah officially announced it last Tuesday. Gautam Gambhir has been a very brilliant cricketer in his cricket career. Not only internationally but also in IPL, he has won the trophy for KKR twice as captain and once as a mentor.
How many crores will Gambhir get?
According to the Indian Express report, the BCCI has kept the options open regarding the salary of the head coach of the Indian cricket team (men). When the BCCI invited applications for the coach post, it was mentioned in the advertisement that “the remuneration will be negotiable and will be by experience.” Gambhir is expected to get a higher salary than Dravid. Dravid’s annual salary was around Rs 12 crore. It remains to be seen how many crores Gambhir will get as salary.
Appointment of support staff pending
Let us tell you that if Gambhir becomes the coach of Team India, then this will be his first assignment at the national level. He has not been the head coach of any team till now. His coaching experience has been in IPL. Under his mentorship, KKR won the IPL 2024 trophy. He was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for two seasons before that. The report also states that the BCCI will soon invite applications for the support staff of the Indian team as the tenure of batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mahambre, and fielding coach T Dilip has ended after the T20 World Cup. It has been heard that head coach Gautam Gambhir wants to see Abhishek Nair as the batting coach and Vinay Kumar as the bowling coach.
