Good News! Recharge Plans to Become Cheaper as TRAI Presents Special Proposal

A big and new turn can come in the Indian telecom industry, due to which users will not have to spend a lot of money on expensive recharge plans. The Telecom Regulatory Authority i.e. TRAI has presented a proposal, under which mobile service providers can offer plans with only voice calls and SMS, as it used to be in the olden days.

TRAI released a new proposal

Nowadays almost all the telecom companies of India focus on internet data in most of their plans. Even if the users do not need internet data, their plan still has internet data, for which they have to pay extra money, even though they do not use internet data. Due to this, TRAI has now presented a new proposal, under which telecom companies have been asked to launch plans with only voice calls and SMS, as it used to be in the olden days’ recharge plans.

TRAI has released a consultation paper for this. TRAI has released this consultation paper on the Review of Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation 2012. TRAI has sought the opinion of its stakeholders on this proposal. This proposal of TRAI can prove to be a big step for the common users. TRAI once again wants to know the views of telecom companies on plans with voice calling and SMS.

Recharge plans have become very expensive.

All recharge plans of all telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, or BSNL mostly offer the facility of internet data, unlimited calling, SMS, and OTT platforms. In such a situation, many users do not need internet data and OTT platforms. They only need the facility of unlimited voice calling and SMS, but still, they have to buy plans with all these benefits, for which they have to spend a lot of money.

Now if this proposal of TRAI is passed, then it can benefit the common customers a lot. Common people have to spend a lot of money on recharge plans because recently Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea have increased the price of their prepaid and postpaid plans by up to 35%. Due to this, the pockets of the users are getting very loose. Now if this proposal of TRAI is passed, then a lot of money of many users can be saved.
