After scoring a total of three centuries and a lot of runs in the last two matches of IPL, a low scoring match was seen on the night of 17th April. Gujarat Titans, the finalist team of the last two seasons, were all out on their lowest score of the tournament i.e. 89 runs. After their killer bowling, Delhi Capitals achieved this target in 67 balls in the 9th over, but to achieve this small score, they also lost four wickets. Captain Rishabh Pant returned unbeaten after scoring 16 runs and Sumit Kumar returned unbeaten after scoring nine runs.
DC 92/4(8.5)
GT 89(17.3)
The poor batting performance of Gujarat Titans can be gauged from the fact that only three of their batsmen could reach double figures, out of which Rashid Khan scored the highest of 31 runs. In the top order, Sai Sudarshan scored 12 runs while Rahul Tewatia contributed 10 runs in 15 balls. For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar took three wickets while Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs took two wickets each. Khalil Ahmed and Akshar Patel got one wicket each.
Delhi’s decision to win the toss and choose bowling proved correct when the team dismissed the opposing captain Shubman Gill in the very second over. After the first wicket fell for 11 runs, it seemed as if there was a downpour. Within no time, half the team returned to the pavilion at just 47 runs. The entire team was all out for 89 runs in 17.3 overs, which is the lowest score of any team this season. This is also the lowest score of Gujarat Titans in IPL.
