The quarter-final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was played between Baroda and Bengal. This match was also like a battle between two big star players of Team India. These players are Hardik Pandya who was playing for Baroda and Mohammed Shami who was playing for Bengal. But Hardik Pandya’s Baroda team overtook Bengal and reached the semi-finals of the Mushtaq Ali Trophy by registering a win.
Hardik’s deadly bowling
Hardik Pandya could not do anything special in batting and he came to bat at number three and could score only 10 runs in 11 balls. But he did wonders in bowling and took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs and played a big role in the team’s victory.
Baroda had scored 172 runs
In this match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Bengal won the toss and decided to bowl. Baroda scored 172 runs for 7 wickets with the help of Shashwat Rawat’s 40, Abhimanyu Rajput’s 37, and Shivalik Sharma’s 24 runs. Shami, Kanisht Seth, and Pradeep Pramanik took 2-2 wickets while Saksham Chaudhary took 1 wicket.
Bengal lost by 41 runs
Chasing the target of 173 runs, Bengal was reduced to 131 in 18 overs in front of the deadly bowling of Hardik Pandya, Lukman Meriwala, Atit Seth and lost the match by 41 runs. All three bowlers took 3-3 wickets. Abhimanyu Rajput got one wicket. Shahbaz Ahmed scored the highest 55 runs for Bengal. With this defeat, Bengal’s campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy ended.
