A big update has come out regarding the Champions Trophy. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the hybrid model for this tournament. According to several reports, an agreement has been reached between the Pakistan Cricket Board [PCB] and the Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI].
In addition, both parties have also agreed that Pakistan does not need to travel to India during the T20 World Cup 2026, as the league games are reportedly expected to take place in Colombo. Although no compensation has been given to the PCB, they will get a chance to host a women’s ICC tournament after 2027.
Team India’s matches in the Champions Trophy will be held in Dubai. The ICC on Friday approved the upcoming Champions Trophy to be played on a hybrid model. One condition of Pakistan has also been accepted by the ICC and now Pakistan will not play its matches in India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had refused to send its team to Pakistan due to security reasons. After this, ICC, PCB, and BCCI Pakistan Cricket Board sought an alternative. According to media reports, the ICC has approved the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model. Under this, Team India will play its Champions Trophy matches in Dubai. The match between India and Pakistan will also now be held in Dubai. However, the cricket boards of India and Pakistan have not yet confirmed this news. The ICC has also not given any information about this yet.
