Rizwan Javed, the UK-based cricketer was found guilty of match-fixing during the Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League. The case goes back to 2021. During their investigation, the ICC found that Rizwan had offered gifts to other players for match-fixing on three occasions. ICC found him guilty of corruption and match-fixing for his actions. As a result of his action, Rizwan has been banned for 17 and a half years. These allegations were made in September last year.
Rizwan was not the only one involved in the case. Along with him, the international player of Bangladesh, Nasir Hussain was also found guilty of the same crime. Hussain was banned for two years. ICC General Manager Integrity Alex Marshall said that Rizwan got those years because he had repeatedly repeated his actions without self-reflecting. Another reason for Rizwan’s ban was to send a clear message to the people still doing this that such wrong things will not have a place in cricket at any level.
