Australia defeated India in the World Cup final. Australia won the trophy match by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday to become world champions for the sixth time. Along with that, India’s dream of winning the trophy for the third time was also shattered. It was India’s 10th straight-match win in the tournament. But losing in the 11th match, Rohit-Birats lost the trophy. With this, India lost the final against Australia for the second time. The team was last defeated in 2003 under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting.
Earlier, KL Rahul scored 66 and Virat Kohli scored 54 runs for India. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs and Suryakumar Yadav scored 18 runs. Kuldeep Yadav scored 10 runs. Apart from these five players, no one else could touch double figures. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for nine runs, Mohammed Shami for six, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill for four. Jasprit Bumrah can only score one run. Mohammad Siraj remains unbeaten with nine runs. Mitchell Starc took the maximum three wickets for Australia. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood got two hits each. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa took one wicket each.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made the biggest partnership of 67 runs for the fourth wicket for India in this match. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added 46 runs for the second wicket. Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul could not convert a good start into a big innings. Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar failed in big moments. India got all out for the first time in this World Cup and lost the match too. This loss ended India’s dream of winning the World Cup for the third time. On the other hand, the Australian team has gone out of everyone’s grasp after winning this trophy six times.
