India beat Australia (IND vs AUS)by six wickets in their first match of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Australia won the toss and batted first for 199 runs. In reply, India scored 201 for the loss of four wickets and made a winning start to their World Cup campaign. KL Rahul (97) and Virat Kohli (85) are the heroes of India’s victory on this day. Based on the innings of these two, the Indian brigade won this match. Apart from these two, only Hardik Pandya managed to open his account. He scored 11 runs. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer, three-star batsmen returned to the pavilion with 0. Josh Hazlewood took three wickets and Mitchell Starc one for Australia.
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh in his second over. After that, Smith and Warner put together a partnership of 69 runs to lead Australia’s innings. But Kuldeep broke the partnership by dismissing Warner. Warner scored 41 runs. Smith and Labuschagne added 36 runs. But Jadeja dismissed Smith for 46 runs and Labuschagne for 27 runs.
Alex Carey failed to open the account and the Australian half returned to the pavilion for 119 runs. Kuldeep bowled Maxwell for a personal 15 runs. After that, Green fell victim to Ashwin for eight runs. Cummins was dismissed for 15 and Zampa returned to the pavilion after scoring six. In the end, Mitchell Starc scored 28 runs to take the team’s score to 199 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for India. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets each. Siraj, Hardik, and Ashwin took one wicket each.
Chasing 200 runs, India got off to a poor start. Three batsmen returned to the pavilion with a score of two runs. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer could not open their accounts. Starc made Ishaan Kishan Hazelwood Rohit and Shreyas their prey. After that, Kohli led the innings with Rahul. He also got life with the score of 12 runs.
