The Asian Games are held in Hangzhou, China. Indian men’s cricket team participated in this tournament. India’s higher ranking in the ICC T20I Team Rankings has given Team India a direct berth in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Team India plays the quarter-final match against Nepal, who topped Group A courtesy of crushing wins over Mongolia and Maldives. The Indian team played in the quarter-finals at this venue, where Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a blistering century and Rinku Singh’s finish took Team India past the 200 mark and the Indian team won the match by 23 runs and qualified for the semi-finals of the Asian Games.
In the semi-final, India faced Bangladesh (IND vs BAN). Bangladesh reached the semi-finals of the Asian Games after defeating Malaysia by just 2 runs in the fourth quarter-final round. Both teams will be looking to reach the finals of the Asian Games, although the rain delayed the start of the match and the game resumed shortly after. Indian captain Rituraj Gaekward won the toss. Parvez scored 23 runs off 32 balls for the team, and wicketkeeper Zaker Ali scored 24 off 29 balls and an impactful knock of 14 runs off 6 balls from Rakibul’s bat towards the end which took the Bangladesh team to a run in 20 overs. Sai Kishore took 3 wickets for the Indian team, and Washington Sundar took 2. Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Tilak Verma, and Shahbaz Ahmed also took 1 wicket each.
In the Indian innings, Yasashvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion in the first over to bat. He was defeated in today’s match. Rituraj scored 40 runs with 4 fours and 3 sixes while playing 26 balls for the team and Tilak Verma scored 55 runs with 2 fours and 6 sixes to secure a medal again in the Asian Games.
