India defeated South Africa by 11 runs in the third T20 match played in Centurion and took a 2-1 lead in the 4-match series. After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, India scored 219 runs with the help of Tilak Verma’s first century and Abhishek Sharma’s first half-century. Africa could only score 208 runs at the loss of 7 wickets and lost the match by 11 runs.
Tilak’s first century
After Sanju Samson’s wicket fell on the second ball of the innings, Tilak Verma was promoted in the batting order and was sent at number three. Tilak took full advantage of this and played an unbeaten innings of 107 runs in 56 balls hitting 7 sixes and 8 fours. This was his first international century. Tilak added 107 runs for the second wicket with Abhishek Sharma 50. Abhishek hit 5 sixes in his 25-ball innings. Apart from this, Hardik Pandya scored 18 and Ramandeep Singh scored 15 runs. Ramandeep made his debut in this match.
Jansen’s half-century took the score to 208
All the South African batsmen got off to a good start while trying to achieve the target of 220 runs but could not extend their innings and kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. In the end, if Marco Jansen had not played an innings of 54 runs in 17 balls, South Africa would not have been able to reach 208 and would have faced an even bigger defeat.
Brilliant bowling by Arshdeep and Axar
Arshdeep Singh, who was criticized for conceding many runs in the second T20, bowled brilliantly in this match and took 3 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, Axar Patel bowled well. Akshar got only 1 wicket but controlled South Africa’s run rate by giving only 29 runs in 4 overs. Tilak was named Player of the Match for his century.
