India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the rain-affected second T20 International to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Now the Sri Lankan team will try to save its honor in the third match to be held on 30th July. India scored 43 runs in the first match held on the 27th of July. Talking about today’s match, India won the toss and bowled first and restricted Sri Lanka to 161 runs for nine wickets. Later, when they came to chase the target, the match had to be stopped after three balls due to heavy rain. When the match resumed after the weather improved and the field dried, India got a revised target of 72 runs in 45 balls, which India did not face much difficulty in achieving.

In the first match on Saturday, Sri Lanka lost the last eight wickets within 21 runs and on Sunday they lost the last six wickets within 31 runs. Despite scoring 80 runs in the first 10 overs, the Sri Lankan team could not score big and could only score 81 runs in the last 10 overs. Hardik Pandya took two wickets for 23 runs in two overs and Ravi Bishnoi took three wickets for 26 runs in four overs. For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka scored 32 runs in 24 balls while Kusal Perera scored 54 runs in 34 balls. Both added 54 runs in six overs for the second wicket.
India got off to a fast start in reply to the small but challenging total of 72 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a total of 12 runs in the first over against pacer Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka put the spinner on attack in the second over itself. Mystery spinner Mahish Teekshana bowled the carrom ball on the very first ball and Sanju Samson was clean bowled without opening the account. Sanju got a chance to play today in place of injured Shubman Gill, but he could not take advantage of it. After this wicket, India counter-attacked. Surya and Hardik scored a lot of boundaries with sweep shots. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten after scoring two runs in two balls.
