Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the 15-member Indian team for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka from July 19. Harmanpreet is currently playing in the ongoing T20 series against South Africa in Chennai. Opener Smriti Mandhana, who is in great form in the series against South Africa, has been made the vice-captain.
Apart from the 15 players of the main team, Shweta Sehrawat, Saiqa Ishak, Tanuja Kanwar, and Meghna Singh have been included as reserve players. India has been placed in Group A of the tournament which includes arch-rivals Pakistan (July 19), United Arab Emirates (July 21) and Nepal (July 23). All matches will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. India are the defending champions and have won the competition a record seven times.
