India’s Victory: Shami and Kohli Shine in World Cup 2023 Semi-Final

Team India defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the first semi-final of the World Cup. Along with that, Team India made it to the final by avenging the loss four years ago. In this match, India won the toss and batted first to score 397/4. Virat Kohli scored the highest 117 runs for India. Apart from this, Shreyas Iyer played an innings of 105 runs. Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 80 runs. Skipper Rohit contributed 47 runs and Lokesh Rahul contributed 39 runs. In reply, the Kiwis were able to score 327 runs despite putting up a tough fight. Darryl Mitchell scored 134 runs for them. However, the star of India with the ball is definitely Mohammed Shami. On this day he took 7 wickets.

India got off to a great start by winning the toss and batting first. First Rohit runs at a fast pace and then Gill bats aggressively. Rohit completed his 50 sixes in the World Cup and the team’s score crossed the 50-run mark in the Powerplay. However, Rohit Sharma was out for a personal 47 runs. Team India scored 84 runs for the loss of one wicket in the Powerplay. Gill and Kohli took India’s score past the 150-run mark. This time Gill completed his half-century off 41 balls. Along with Rahul, he took India’s score to bigger runs. Shreyas then completed his century off 67 balls and was dismissed for 105 off 70 balls with four fours and eight sixes. Suryakumar, who came to bat in the 49th over, was dismissed for one run. In the end, Lokesh Rahul ended the Indian innings with Shubman Gill. Rahul batted brilliantly in the last over to take India’s score to 397 runs. He remained unbeaten with 39 runs. Where Shubman Gill remains unbeaten on 80 runs. For New Zealand, Tim Southee took three wickets and Trent Boult took one.
