India Beats Sri Lanka by 302 Runs, First Team to Qualify for World Cup 2023 Semi-Finals

On Thursday, India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Team India is unbeaten in this World Cup. India secured their place in the semi-finals by winning their seventh consecutive match with 14 points from 7 matches. India became the first team to reach the semi-finals. Rohit Sharma’s team won again against Sri Lanka. Earlier, India easily won the Asia Cup semi-final by thrashing Sri Lanka by 50 runs.

In this match, India batted first and scored 357 runs losing eight wickets in 50 overs. Shubman Gill played the highest innings of 92 runs. Virat Kohli scored 88 runs and Shreyas Iyer scored 82 runs. Dilshan Madushanka took five wickets for Sri Lanka. In reply, the Sri Lankan team could score only 55 runs. Kasun Rajita scored the maximum 14 runs. Besides, Mahesh Thikasana and Angelo Mathews scored 12 runs. Five Sri Lankan batsmen were dismissed for zero runs. At the same time, eight batsmen could not reach double figures. Mohammed Shami took five wickets for India. Mohammad Siraj took three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

Captain Rohit Sharma was clean-bowled by Dilshan Madushanka on the second ball of the Indian innings. He can score four runs. Then Virat Kohli made a partnership of 189 runs with Shubman Gill for the second wicket. Madushanka broke this pair. Shubman got out after scoring 92 runs off 92 balls. He hit 11 fours and two sixes in his innings. Then Virat also missed the century. Virat played an innings of 88 runs with the help of 11 fours off 94 balls. Then Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul made a great pair of 60 runs off 46 balls. Rahul got out after scoring 21 runs off 19 balls. Dushmanta Chamera dismissed him.

Suryakumar Yadav could not do anything special. He got out after scoring 12 runs off nine balls. Shreyas scored the 16th half-century of his ODI career. He completed his fifty off 36 balls. Madhushanka sends Shreyas to the pavilion. He scored 82 runs off 56 balls with three fours and six sixes. Mohammed Shami was dismissed for two runs. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja played an innings of 35 runs off 24 balls with one four and one six. Jadeja was run out on the last ball of the Indian innings. For Sri Lanka, Madushanka took 5 wickets and Chamera took one wicket.
