The third and final match of the ongoing T20 series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Pallekele on Tuesday. On one hand, India will be looking to clean sweep the series while on the other hand, Sri Lanka will want to start the ODI series with a win.
India has defeated Sri Lanka in this series in both bowling and batting. Although Sri Lanka has made a good start with the bat in both the first matches, its batsmen have not been able to get off to a good start. Even in the first match, victory did not seem far from Sri Lanka, but suddenly there was a flurry of wickets, while in the second match, Sri Lanka, who came to bat first, was seen easily reaching the score of 200 but lost seven wickets in the last five overs.
Talking about the Sri Lanka team, can once again show confidence in its batsmen. Especially, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis are in good form at the moment. Nissanka has scored 350 runs in the last 10 T20Is at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 142.85 while Mendis has scored 246 runs in the last 7 T20Is at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 162.91. Kusal Perera also played a half-century in the last match.
From India’s side, Yashasvi Jaiswal will once again have the responsibility of providing a good start. Shubman Gill was not available in the last match due to back spasms. If he remains unavailable for the third match also, then additional responsibility will be on Jaiswal’s shoulders. Even in the second match, he did not give Sri Lanka a chance to come back in the match with his explosive batting. In the last five T20Is, Jaiswal has scored 211 runs at an average of 52.75 and a strike rate of 174.38. Ravi Bishnoi has been consistently impressing with the bowling and has 10 wickets to his name in the last seven T20Is at an economy of 6.26.
