Team India’s World Cup squad announced, Rahul-Ishan included, Samson and Chahal no chance

The Indian team for the World Cup 2023 was announced on Tuesday. For this mega event, both KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been included in India’s 15-member team under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, while Sanju Samson and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have not been given a chance. The team announced for the World Cup mostly includes the same players who are currently playing in the Asia Cup. Except for Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Verma, and Sanju Samson, all the players included in the Asia Cup team have a place in the World Cup team. Team India chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma announced the team in a press conference on Tuesday.

The deadline to announce the provisional squad for the World Cup to be hosted by India starting October 5 in Ahmedabad is September 5. Teams can make changes in the team till 28 September.

In addition to Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, recently returned from injury, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have also been included in the team selected for the World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Ishan Kishan cemented his place in the World Cup squad with a blistering 82 against Pakistan at a crucial juncture.

Hardik Pandya has been retained as the vice-captain. Ravindra Jadeja is the second all-rounder in the team, along with Kuldeep Yadav and Akshar Patel have got a chance in spin bowling. The responsibility of fast bowling has been given to Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, and Jaspreet Bumrah.

At the same time, Sanju Samson, who was included as a backup in the Asia Cup, has been dropped from the World Cup team. At the same time, the fans waiting for Yuzvendra Chahal to join the world team have been a shock once again and Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the team instead of Chahal.
