According to sources, this year’s IPL auction is going to be held in Dubai. The auction will take place on December 19, but the teams will have to submit the list of released players by November 15. IPL 2023 auction was held in Kochi. But this time this mega event will be in Dubai. Each team will have a purse of 100 crores. 26th November is the last date for player retention & releases.
However, the faces of new players will be seen in this IPL. Many greats were not seen in IPL 2023, but the T20 World Cup will be seen in 2024, and IPL 2024 will be held before that World Cup. Former night player Pat Cummins has expressed interest in playing in this year’s IPL. He played in the IPL for the Kolkata team in 2022 but kept himself out of the IPL last time to prepare for the World Test Championship final, but he will be seen again in the auction and Kolkata Knight Riders will be desperate to buy him.
However, apart from Cummins, his Aussie team-mate Travis Head, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales, Sam Billings, and Gerald Coetzee are also on the list of interested foreigners. All of them have registered their names in the 2024 IPL auction. Not only that but Auji superstar Mitchell Starc can also be seen. Romario Shepherd was traded to Mumbai Indians from Lucknow Super Giants. He is the first player traded for IPL 2024.
