The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is likely to be held in Dubai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may organize it by December. The Women’s Premier League auction is expected to take place in the same month. However, the venue for Domhilad’s IPL auction has not been finalized. But it is likely to happen in India. Till now, no official notification has been sent to the IPL teams for this auction. The BCCI had considered holding last year’s auction in Istanbul, but it was eventually held in Kochi.
No official information has been sent to the franchises about the IPL 2024 auction. But according to Cricbuzz, this time the auction could be held in Dubai. BCCI has fixed December 15 to 19, but it is likely to be December 18-19. Last year, BCCI wanted to hold the IPL 2023 auction in Istanbul, but the auction was held in Sebar Kochi.
It may be noted that although it could not be organized abroad, it was successfully organized in Kochi last year. So eventually the possibility of hosting it in Dubai can be ruled out. However, all the IPL franchises have been told that this time the auction could be held in Gulf City. However, it is not yet clear when exactly that place will be confirmed.
The trading window for IPL 2024 is currently open. But so far there are no reports of player swaps between IPL franchises. This is the last year of the three-year window. So it is not clear if there will be any kind of transaction. But that being said, teams can let go of players who aren’t performing well and have huge salaries. Several players are on this list from last year. Almost all teams can let go of several players as well as bring in some new stars. Time will tell what will happen in the end.
